The Shrine Circus Is The Largest Fraternal Fundraiser For Syria Shrine
The Syria Shrine Circus is Pittsburgh’s oldest continuous family show. After almost seven decades, the Shrine Circus has played at The Hunt Armory, Forbes Field, Civic Arena, Three Rivers Stadium, and PPG Paints Arena.
Some of the biggest names in the Circus World have appeared at the Syria Shrine Circus, including the Great Wallendas, Bozo the Clown, and Bello Nock.
The pride of our Shrine Circus has always been our magnificent performing animals. We have proudly presented performing elephants, tigers, horses, pigs, monkeys, bears, dogs and horses. All our performing animals are privately owned and trained by professionals and are licensed and regulated by the USDA.
Paul Leavy has served as Circus Chairman for over two decades.
The Shrine Circus Committee consists of the Ticketing Team, Program Sales Volunteers, Ringmaster’s Club Committee, and Assistants to the Chairman. We are always looking for new members that are interested in participating in the promotion and betterment of our Circus.
Shrine Circus legal status in the City of Pittsburgh
If an injunction is granted by the PA State Court, the Shrine Circus will celebrate its 69th Anniversary, September 14-16, 2018 at PPG Paints Arena. Circus week will kick-off with a Ringmaster’s Club Party on September 12th at the Shrine Center.
Currently, the Shrine Circus is challenging an ordinance brought forth by Pittsburgh City Council President, Bruce Kraus, which prohibits the use of any USDA approved tools required for the safe, proper, and legal training and display of performing animals.
For more information, please contact Circus Chairman Paul Leavy at the Shrine Center – 724-274-7000.
